Outdoor furniture pieces from Town & Country's Collection, our exclusive line of outdoor furnishings.

Everybody has a favorite room at home. Sometimes it's shared with friends and family; other times we retreat there alone. This month we debut the Town & Country Collection, our first exclusive line of outdoor furnishings that allow you to create a room in any locale — perhaps a spot near the swimming pool or an expanse of lawn overlooking the lake.

The "architecture" of each such room begins with the Pavilion, a curtained, cabanalike structure anchored with poles, whose retractable roof opens and sets securely with the push of a lever. You remain shaded and sheltered from the elements. An interior track allows you to decorate the space by installing mesh or acrylic curtains as well as mosquito netting and even a lighting system. Once the Pavilion is up, you can outfit it with the collection's all-black wicker furniture, including a low-slung daybed, a sofa, armless chairs, two-seaters, an ottoman, a dining set and a coffee table. Thick cushions and accent pillows are available in white, charcoal and red or can be customized in other hues and patterns. The hand-wickered pieces incorporate a durable, dirt-repellant material and are covered by Sunbrella weather-resistant fabrics.

This introduction marks the start of an annual collection from Town & Country. Prices for the ten-by-fourteen-foot Pavilion range from $6,000 to $10,000; installation is required. Individual furnishings are priced at $860 to $4,260.

Available at fine home stores and through the manufacturer, Jardin de Ville; 772-982-9225; jardindeville.com. Showrooms are located at 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, Suite 1553 in Chicago, 312-755-1414; and at the International Design Center, 10800 Corkscrew #201, in Estero, Fla., 239-947-4005.
