I spent a week in Prague and absolutely fell in love with it. My days were quite busy--I was recording my first solo album--but I still managed to see many of the city's treasures. I was particularly taken by the Charles Bridge, which is decorated with thirty tall statues. Mozart made his grand entrance there when he came to the city for the premiere of Le Nozze di Figaro, in 1786. The opera had enjoyed a lukewarm reception in Vienna, but the people of Prague cherished it! Many of Mozart's operas are still performed at the Estates Theatre (011-420-22-490-2322; estatestheatre.cz). Nearby there's the Kolowrat Palace, which houses one of my favorite restaurants, U Kolowrata (011-420-25-753-0729). The elegant dining room serves local stews and game dishes. I also recommend that visitors get tickets for the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra (czechphilharmonic.cz); it performs in a beautiful auditorium at the Rudolfinum, which has great acoustics.
