Tired of celebrating Christmas the same way, I decided to spend this past one with friends at the Esperanza resort, in Baja. We did not have to bother checking in at a front desk upon arriving; instead we were whisked straight to our beautiful two-bedroom villa, on a hill overlooking the ocean. A bottle of my favorite tequila was waiting with a spread of salads, tortillas and queso fresco. That night we had dinner on the restaurant's terrace, with the waves crashing on the rocks below.
