Visitors to the remote and rugged Scottish Isle of Jura--whose 180 residents are outnumbered by 5,000 red deer--can now spend the night in style at the island's only upscale accommodation, the Jura Lodge. Opened last fall by the Isle of Jura Distillery, the two-story, five-bedroom house rents to groups of up to ten people--and appeals to those not bothered by the lack of TV, Internet access or cell-phone reception. The dining and living areas, which offer views across Small Isles Bay, are decorated with items from flea markets and auction houses; the look is eclectic and lived in. (Antler, fur and horn alert!) There is no staff, but the managers of the distillery can stock the refrigerator, arrange for housekeeping and set up sailing, fishing and hunting excursions. The sole local restaurant is the pub at the nearby Jura Hotel, so most guests choose to stay in and watch as a private chef prepares a feast for them: say, langoustines, scallops and venison followed by drams of Jura's world-famous whiskies. From $1,963 for a four-day weekend. 011-44-1496-820-240; isleofjura.com.
