Those who understand that less is more, especially when famed Parisian interior designer Christian Liaigre is involved, will appreciate Le Sereno, at the Grand Cul-de-Sac beach, on the Caribbean island of St. Bart's. A minimalist haven perfect for couples, it opened last December on the site of the outmoded Sereno Beach Hotel. The new property centers on a contemporary freshwater pool that overlooks the beach and a cove protected by coral reefs. Everything from the reception area to the seafood restaurant to the thirty-seven suites and villas is decorated in natural tones, with wood floors, white walls and slate-colored fabrics. The accommodations offer plasma-screen televisions, iPod docks and bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and beach bags that come with his-and-hers flip-flops. Rooms start at $545, with the one-bedroom Villa du Pêcheur--Le Sereno's largest, with a plunge pool--going for $1,755 to $2,240, depending on the season. 011-590-590-298-300; lesereno.com.
