Quiet, sophisticated and understated in a boomtown lacking those traits, the only Park Hyatt in the Middle East (for now) is a proverbial oasis of calm nestled alongside the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, on the eastern bank of the creek. Decorated with a Moorish theme in a palette of sand, beige and cream, each of the 225 rooms in this low-slung hotel has its own terrace or balcony, with most facing the water. This unusual layout (at least for Dubai, where many hotels are giant white towers) is set amid stone pathways and piazzas leading to the pool and restaurants, including Café Arabesque, Thai Kitchen, the Franco-centric Traiteur and the tented, marina-side Terrace Bar.
Each room has an open-plan bathroom, the centerpiece of which is a freestanding oval tub perfect for deep soakings. The 35 suites include a Residential Spa Suite, with built-in treatment areas, and the 1,130-square-foot corner Terrace suites with panoramic views of the creek and Yacht Club. If that isnt soothing enough, the Amara spa features eight treatment suites, including a couples suite with its own courtyard and outdoor shower. Guests are encouraged to linger.
Located in the Deira district on the east side of the city, the Park Hyatt is close to the airport and the Souks, but far from the dining, nightlife and shopping sprouting from the desert to the west which, if youre looking for some peace and quiet, is not such a bad thing.
