Christian Jagodzinski is a world traveler who loves the services and amenities of upscale hotels, as well as the seclusion and character of rentable private estates. Often disappointed with European vacation homes leased via the Internet, the German entrepreneur had difficulty finding all the traits he wanted in one place. So in 2002 he founded Villazzo Villahotels, a rental company with a portfolio of lavish homes in St. Tropez, Paris, Marbella, Aspen and Miami Beach, its headquarters. All properties are consistent in quality, valued from $4.5 million to $20 million and renting from $21,910 to $120,000 a week. A staff provides daily housekeeping, and Villazzo's concierges can fulfill requests for private chefs, spa treatments and jet charters (the services require additional fees). Every beautifully furnished home is stocked with fine linens, bathrobes and slippers, fresh flowers and fruit and Bulgari bath products and has a gourmet kitchen, a wine-storage unit and an entertainment center with a wireless laptop. For a sojourn in Miami Beach, try Casa Contenta, a Spanish-style mansion in the gated community of Palm Island. Up to ten guests can enjoy the five-bedroom home, which goes for between $58,310 and $71,820 a week. With such diversions as a gym, billiards, a cinema-style home theater and a heated swimming pool overlooking Biscayne Bay, visitors might not want to leave. But if they do, South Beach is just a five-minute drive away. 305-777-0146; 877-VILLAZZO; villazzo.com.
