No longer content with owning thirty-five vineyards around the world, the French wine mogul Bernard Magrez is now attracting devotees with his namesake wineshops. In 2006, Magrez opened his first boutique, near the Opéra National de Paris; last year in Bordeaux, his hometown, he debuted one next door to Château Pape Clément, his flagship winery.

Lined with shelving from an old apothecary, the latter shop evokes an earlier era and stocks 113 wines, among them the coveted 2000 Magrez Fombrauge ($750), eight limited-edition micro-cuvées and a dozen wines Magrez produced with the actor Gérard Depardieu (a close friend and an oenophile).

The vintner has no plans to open guest rooms at the château, but anyone staying within ten miles of the store can request complimentary Rolls-Royce delivery of their wines. For help in selecting a few, call to schedule a ninety-minute tasting and wine-appreciation class with staff sommeliers.
