After a morning on the pistes of St. Moritz, skiers with a taste for fine cuisine and unparalleled views schuss to EL PARADISO, one of the glamorous Swiss resort's most stylish on-mountain restaurants. Located on the south-facing side of St. Moritz's Suvretta section, the eight-year-old Paradiso underwent a $6 million expansion and renovation in 2005, reopening last winter as a contemporary incarnation of its former rustic self. The spare lower level has a timber ceiling, stone floors, long wooden tables with cushioned benches, and giant picture windows; upstairs, the cozy post-and-beam dining room has a more traditional alpine feel. Sunseekers populate the sheepskin-covered chairs on the terraces and refuel with Paradiso's organic cheese fondue, made from fresh cow's milk. The new chef, Jens Bochow, adds a gourmet twist to Swiss fare like rösti potatoes by garnishing them with shaved black Norcia truffles, and he has spiced up the menu with Indian soups. Top off any meal with a mountainous and sugary slice of Dream Cream cake, and you'll agree with the restaurant's slogan: this is "close to heaven." 011-41-81-833-40-02.
