The elegant Ambre boutique in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
By Carola Lott

Travelers to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, should be certain to visit Ambre, a boutique in a renovated French colonial house that showcases the fashions of Romyda Keth, a Cambodian woman who studied design in Paris. From the elegant shop's large central hall, a staircase leads to a series of spacious, light-filled rooms painted to complement the vibrant colors of Keth's unusual and remarkably affordable creations. Her evening dresses, in luscious embroidered silks and organzas, are favorites of the Cambodian royal family. Some of her casual wear, such as pretty tops, summer dresses and hot-selling shirtdresses, are made of a stretchy fabric that is excellent for traveling. Ambre also carries a lovely collection of ceramics, decorative objects and lacquerware. Evening dresses from $120 to $350; shirtdresses from $40 to $100. 37 Rue 178; 011-855-23-217-935.
