Something sweet has sprouted among the antiques shops in San Francisco's Jackson Square: Carrots, a clothing store run by sisters Melissa and Catie Grimm, scions of Grimmway, the baby-carrot producer. Its putty gray walls and worldly aesthetic were inspired by "a classic Paris apartment," says interior designer William Wick, who with partner Gabriella Sarlo bought the eclectic antiques and objets d'art (a 19th-century zinc chandelier, vintage suitcases) in France and Belgium.
The Grimms handpick pieces for women and men — Jill Platner's unisex jewelry, frocks by Peter Som and Narciso Rodriguez — to appeal "across generations and sensibilities," Melissa says.
