Fashion alert for the sandbox set: more working moms with extra spending power are demanding designer clothes for their trendsetting kids. And when it comes to pint-sized attire, Parisians are ahead of the curve, with selections you'll find nowhere else and boutiques blossoming all over town.

BABY

Ovale (200 Blvd. St.-Germain; 011-33-1-53-63-31-11) is a temple of bébé-chic ivory and white linen in summer and cashmere in winter. Floppy polar bears come in tiny to mammoth sizes; bracelets with baby's name or initials on gold cubes are coveted gifts. The minimalist shop Victoria Christmas (41 Passage Vivienne; 011-33-1-43-72-83-96) shows off the designer's ultracomfortable collection of pure organic cotton onesies, velveteen rompers, jeans and padded jackets for newborns to toddlers. Everything comes in shades of ginger, cream and blueberry.

KIDS

Le Phare de la Baleine (151 Ave. Victor-Hugo; 011-33-1-53-70-98-45), the Whale's Lighthouse, is stocked with sailor-striped knits, T-shirts emblazoned with the signature mammal and velvet jackets tied with ribbons. A Bonpoint flagship (6 Rue de Tournon; 011-33-1-40-62-76-20) has opened in an 18th-century town house dominated by a treehouse that basks in the light of crystal chandeliers. Eight rooms display the company's complete collection, including trendy separates and feminine party dresses for preteens. Its restaurant, managed by the neighboring Casa Bini, offers delicious Italian dishes, and its summertime garden terrace is a favorite lunch stop.

CONCEPT STORES

Moms with hip kids head for Bon Ton, whose three shops (82 Rue de Grenelle, 011-33-1-44-39-09-20; 122 Rue du Bac, 011-33-1-42-22-77-69; 118 Rue Vieille du Temple, 011-33-1-42-72-34-69) cover the entire enfant milieu: baby basics in adult shades of gray, white and black; furniture; books; and toys. Le Monde Merveilleux de Sophie (33 Rue Pierre Demours; 011-33-1-47-66-03-46) is a shop and an enchanting tea salon that serves mini madeleines and chocolate bears. It specializes in party costumes and velvet jumpers for girls, knickers for boys, baby jumpsuits (embroidered with a gingerbread man) and vintage dolls, toys and books.

ULTRA MODE

Fashion-forward moppets (and their moms) can perfect their look with Natasha Xantopoulos. Formerly of Chanel and Sonia Rykiel, Xantopoulos acts as a personal stylist at Little V.I.P. (1 Rue St.-Simon; 011-33-1-42-22-05-04), where she will mix and match labels, like Noro, Roberta Bacarelli and Essentiel Girls; slim Frenchwomen have been known to pick up embroidered skirts for themselves here. Discover delicious toddler couture at Baghère (12 Rue de Verneuil, 011-33-1-42-96-26-20; 17 Rue de Tournon, 011-33-1-43-29-37-21), the new creation of stylist Sylvie Loussier. The natives may have style in their dna, but for the rest of us, her cleverly layered ensembles for girls up to eight—kicky tunic tops, pleated blouses, skirts and capes—and shorts and jumpsuits for boys are lessons in irresistible French chic.

DOLLAR-FRIENDLY DESIGNS

The bohemian cashmere and cotton essentials (smocked tops, cord shorts, Moroccan tunics) of Ungaro-trained Cordélia de Castellane were once sold only on-line and at trunk shows hosted by such high-wattage friends as Delphine Arnault. Now you can get them at Le Bon Marché (24 Rue de Sèvres; 011-33-1-44-39-82-80). The kids' lines by chain store Monoprix (monoprix.fr for locations) are so good that stylish moms pick up a few items for their tots here, then mix them with luxe boutique finds, just as they might pair a Zara piece with a Dior for themselves. And isn't that what Parisian style is all about?
