With a limit of six clients at a time, the new E'Spa, which opened last May in the boutique of Italian designer Gianfranco Ferré, may be the most relaxing spot in Milan's famed shopping district. The spa, whose design reflects Ferré's spare architectural aesthetic, caters to the city's business and fashion elite. All staff members are trained by E'Spa in the United Kingdom, and many are fluent in Englisha welcome benefit for traveling Americans. After changing into a plush robe, you rest on a padded chaise longue overlooking a rose garden, sipping an herbal tisane or water while waiting for a consultation with a therapist. That done, you soak in a hot-mineral-water pool equipped with hydro jets, have your treatment and finish your visit under aromatherapy mists in the gilded shower room. The focus is on detoxifying therapies. Try the signature "holistic total balance with hot-stone therapy," a nearly two-hour indulgence that includes a full-body exfoliation and a scalp, body and face massage ($275).
