Until recently, the Hotel Cipriani, that oasis of luxury in Venice, had almost everything any seasoned traveler would wantan extraordinary setting, beautiful furnishings, excellent service, three wonderful restaurants and a swimming pool that may be the largest at any five-star lodging in the world. It lacked only one amenity: a full-service spa. Now it has one that competes with the best of them. The Casanova Spa, as it is called, does more than prepare a client for a romantic tryst. It offers a host of facial and body treatments, including four kinds of massages and a special "Light and Water" category, featuring "Dreaming, Floating, Energizing," in which the client "floats" in a water-filled plastic blanket ($129). Babor, a German firm known for its high quality, designed the products used in all the therapies. SeaCreation, the ultimate treatment, is the spa's most expensive ($325). Using shells and deep-sea-sourced fluids, the therapy is a little otherworldly (synthesized music, images on a plasma screen and a slight but pleasant feeling of being adrift). If your needs are more down-to-earth, try the Proellixe Vibration machine ($45) and shake off all those Bellinis. Rooms from $806 to $10,378 per night; 011-39-041-520-7744; hotelcipriani.com.
